Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American actor and singer, is a former model. She was the lead female vocalist for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. Apollonia is a singer/actress who was who was christened by Prince in 1984, became one of many female artists of the 1980s that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her first professional venture was as a model in the latter part of 1970. Kotero also appeared on CHiPS. In 1984 she landed the title of female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she altered her name) as well as replacing Vanity in the female duo Vanity 6 performing with them on the screen under the name Apollonia 6. They scored a small success with the film Sex Shooter, but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she achieved a greater chart impact. The relationship between Kotero and Prince came to an end when the duo disagreed on the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to had a broke up. After appearing in minor films (and reportedly refusing to participate with her role in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) her name was mentioned and she was cast in the 1985-1986 nighttime drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. But the R&B/dance songs were not a huge hit by those who bought music. The album soon vanished. In the years following, she continued to be active in the field of acting (if she was a bit off the radar) as well as a couple of television roles, films and an exercise video. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English entitled Stay with me in 1997. She returned to the school where she received her diploma in filmmaking. After that, she started her own company and worked as a child's TV host. Apollonia is a multi-talented lady. She is a former model, singer actress and talent supervisor.
